Q&A: What’s the absolute latest in the year that you can continue wearing dress sandals?
I mean, is it that you have to cut out wearing sandals for dressy shoes after Labor Day, or after September, or what? When’s the latest in the year that you can still wear them without looking like a dork? I’m not very good at this fashion stuff and I’m trying to decide if it’s worth buying a pair of dress sandals now or if I should wait until next year.

The pictures have nothing to do with the content!!

Depending on the weather where you live, you may be able to wear them all-year-round. The rule is no white shoes after Labor day, unless you are a bride or professional athlete. It has nothing to do with the style of shoe. As long as it isn’t raining, snowing, or too cold, there is no reason not to wear sandals if you want to.
Now is the best time to buy, all the stores will have them marked down.

It depends on temperature. That whole “you can’t wear white after Labor Day” or “you can’t wear whatever after a certain date” is no longer the rule. If it’s warm enough were you live to wear sandals all year round you’re lucky so go for it. For me sandal season ended around mid September and I bring out my boots.

I don’t bother with any of that Labor Day nonsense. I love my sandals, and I’ll be wearing them as long as it’s comfortable for me to do so. I like to have my two boys go barefoot until late November, and I’m generally in sandals as long as they’re in bare feet. Now is a great time to buy them

you can wear them til about early/mid septembet before it starts looking dorky. you should buy cute dress sandals now though, since they’ll be on sale.that way you can wear them for a little bit now then all next summer. the only reason i would give for not buying them now is if you think it’s likely you’ll outgrow them before next summer.

Pre-global warming, it was Labor Day, now it’s probably safe until Halloween without it being a fashion faux pas.

It depends, thin strapped heels, anything along these lines: http://www.heels.com/womens-shoes/ray-shoe-black-leather.html shouldn’t be worn after Labor Day. White shoes are also a no, but it’s okay to wear other white pieces. Thin strapped sandals like the ones in the picture need to be saved for warmer month. You can, however put on a pair of jewel toned tights in darker tones (ex. mustard yellow, burnt orange, emerald green, etc.) and wear strappy heeled shoes. The big difference with those are obviously going to be that they are thicker straps. Also, in darker colors like black or jewel tones and nude heels are also appropriate. Peep-toe styles are also really in, especially on boots. Oh, and as for espadrilles (wedge heeled shoes) leave the canvas, cork, and the wedges made of the hemp/rope material for summer months. These shoes would definately be appropriate for the cooler months, so long as there are tights or something under them: http://www.heels.com/womens-shoes/jaco-heel-blackblack.html
Does that make sense? I hope so!

Buy them now and wear them until it’s too cold to, don’t bother with the Labor day stuff, the sandals will be cheap and you’ll be able to wear them next year!
