Prom makeup and nail help?

These are useful and collceted by Krista!

Question: Prom makeup and nail help?
Hi!
My prom is next week, and all I’ve done to prepare is get my dress haha.
I am hopeless when it comes to makeup, so I was wondering what everyone else thought.
I have very fair skin, light blonde hair and blue-grey eyes. My dress is black and white (mostly black, white at the top). I don’t know what I’m doing with my hair yet, but it probably won’t be all up.
Makeup colours/styles/brands would be nice. Also suggestions for nail polish.
Thanks so much!

Here are some easy makeup steps. Also, make sure you practice before prom.

1. Find a foundation that matches your skin tone, and apply that first. You can get them at any drugstore or walmart.
2. Then, do your eyes (eyeshadow, then complementing eyeliner, then mascara) You should go for a dramatic smoky eye, if you’re comfortable with it. You can get a step by step kit at stores like Sephora, or try one of covergirl’s new products ( http://www.covergirl.com/products/product.jsp?productId=smoky_shadowblast_eyeshadow ) They make it really easy, even if you’ve never tried it before. 3. Then, find a light pink blush and apply it to your cheekbones about an inch from your nose, then brush it away from your nose, sweeping up towards your temples.
4. Then, find a light rose lipstick or gloss (or you could go for bright red if you’re more daring) and apply that (Put it on your bottom lip first, rub your lips together to spread it to the top, and then apply to missed spots on the top, then drag the tip of your finger straight down from your nose, to redefine the little mountains of your lips).

For nail polish, go for either a basic french manicure, or a bright red or pink to add a splash of color to your ensemble.

For hair, try curling it, if your hair will hold a curl, and pulling it half back with a nice clip

Have fun!

Ok, heres what I think

Hair-
>Messy Chignon-esque french braid (loose) with a jewel hair tie or barrette

Makeup-
>Concealer (only if you need it)

>Light foundation (if you like)

>BLACK eyeliner (I suggest Sephora retractable waterproof eyeliner in BLACK, it goes on nice and it stays on even if you rub it!)

>Sephora Mono”Blush Me!” in Peach Tendre

>Sephora Lash Plumper mascara in Blackest Black (Makes your lashes really nice looking and thick, dosen’t flake, Use if you want volume), or Sephora Atomic Volume (Extends lashes beautiffuly and dosen’t flake, use for length)

>Sephora Pressed Powder (match to your skin tone)

>ANY of the Sephora BOLD eyeshadows depending on your color preferences (may I suggest Aspen Summit, De Luxe Pink, Caroline’s Pride, My Favorite Jeans, and It-Blue), set with a nice eye primer like Urban Decay

>A light gloss (Sephora Super Shimmer Lip Gloss in Precious Pink)

>Any of the Sephora Nail Lacquers (theyr’e all really nice, high quality, bold color, and don’t chip)

Heres how to put the makeup together-

1>Put on concealer (if wearing), and put on foundation lightly. Top with a sheer coat of pressed powder, and put blush onto the apples of your cheeks

2> Put the eyeliner DIRECTLY as close to your top and bottom lashes as possible. Add a slight cat eye to the edge if you like.

3> Smudge the liner slightly with the sponge end of the liner to soften the look of the line

4> Apply the eyelid primer to your eyes. Let dry. Using a brush, sweep the color over your eyelid. Using a smaller brush, apply a little bit of ASPEN SUMMIT color eyeshadow to the inner corners of your eyes to make them look bigger.

5> Now lets talk mascara. First, decide on if your going for volume or length. If your going for volume, use the lash plumper and put the brush as close to the base of your lashes as possible. Hold it there for three seconds, and wiggle it up the rest of your lashes. Repeat until they are thick to your liking. If your going for length, use Atomic Volume mascara. I know its kinda contradictory, but it has a nice little comb on the wand that coats each lash with the formula and extends them. Take the longest bristles, and sweep them, focusing on the lash tips, from root to end. Only coat the lash roots once, and focus on the mid-shaft to tips for the rest of the time. To finish your lashes, use a heated eyelash curler like Sephora Heated Eyelash curler. It makes a curl that lasts, without the risk of pulling or crimping your lashes that comes with a traditional curler. One word of warning is to NOT put mascara on your bottom lashes. It flakes quickly, and just makes you look like you have really big bags

6> To finish your look, coat your pout with the super shimmer lipgloss. Re-apply throughout the night to make your lips look shiny, healthy, and pretty. It isn’t sticky at all, and looks nice, not overdone. And it balances out your dramatic eye look icon biggrin Prom makeup and nail help? !

Shoes-

>Black Bejewelled Stillettos (If you feel comfortable wearing them)

>If not, a pair of cute wedges or flats will make due

Have loads of fun at your prom!!!!!

Okay, starting with your hair. I sugget that you leave it down like you said:) Looks gorgeous!

Now to makeup. You should do a simple smokey eye! Similar to this one…

What you would need is a couple shades of grey, a light and a dark, black eyeliner, mascara, and some black eyeshdow:) Just easily start with a primer, of course. Then take the black, (or really dark grey, whichever your prefer) and cover 1/2 the lid with it. You can kind of smear the top of the black eyeshadow if you wish. Then take the dark grey, and apply a thin layer above the black, and smoke it out. Next you take your light grey, and apply it above the darker grey, and smoke it out:) Finally you apply black or grey eyeliner to your waterline, and apply mascara:)

For your nails, I would suggest you do whaever color you want. I wouldnt suggest black, becaue you have a black dress, and If you decide to wear the makup i suggested above, you’d be overwhelmed with black! So maybe go with a nice mint green, light purple, or a sky blue! Here are some OPI nail colors I really like, and think would go nice!
